Dental Veneers at St. Leonards Green Dental
If you’re considering cosmetic dental treatments, dental veneers offer dramatic results. As a non-restorative aesthetic procedure, they are bonded to the front surfaces of healthy teeth that are visible in your ‘smile zone’.
What Do Veneers Correct?
Porcelain veneers can erase the visible signs of teeth that are:
- Crooked
- Crowded
- Misshaped
- Uneven
- Discoloured
- Chipped or slightly worn
When bonded to the front of each tooth, the fine shell of porcelain camouflages the enamel behind it. Instead, you see what looks like a flawless tooth in its place. Because some alternation to your tooth structure is made, veneers are a non-reversible procedure. If you should break or chip one, it will need to be replaced. To help protect your cosmetic investment, we recommend wearing a night guard while you sleep.
Traditional Porcelain Veneer Treatment
After your initial consultation, the treatment for getting veneers takes two appointments to complete. At the first visit, we’ll prep your teeth by removing a thin layer of outer enamel so that the restorations won’t make your smile look too bulky. Next, we’ll take an impression for our lab to use during your veneer design process. About two weeks later, your permanent restorations will be ready to place.
Getting dental veneers is a minimally invasive procedure, but some local anaesthetic will be needed during your preparation appointment to eliminate the risk of sensitivity. Numbing is usually not required during your second visit where the veneers are placed. However, if you do feel anxious, laughing gas is available to help you relax.
Are You a Candidate for Veneers?
Before recommending veneers, we will need to make sure that your teeth and gums are healthy. A sound, stable foundation is essential before starting any type of cosmetic dentistry treatment. At your brief exam, we can let you know whether or not you qualify for this procedure.
Same-Day Composite Veneers
Are you looking for the fastest results possible? Same-day composite veneers can make that a reality. In under two hours, we can apply hand-shaped composite veneers to one or more teeth to hide cosmetic flaws in your smile.
Composite veneers are made of the same type of material that we use for tooth-coloured fillings. While not as durable as porcelain, chairside veneers still offer tremendous benefits and in the shortest time frame. Numbing may not even be necessary!
The “Instant Braces” Effect
Veneers are unique from other types of cosmetic dentistry, in that they transform your smile in such a dramatic way. Some people even refer to veneers as “instant braces” because of how they can make your teeth look straight in such a short period.
If you’ve been considering braces or clear aligners but don’t want to spend time in appliances, getting veneers is an option worth considering. When we bond them over the teeth at the front of your mouth, it’s possible to erase the signs of minor tooth misalignment such as crowding or small gaps.
